In an attempt to end the flag-pin controversy that surrounded this year's election, Men's Vogue commissioned the renowned graphic designer
Michael Bierut to design a politically neutral symbol celebrating the USA. "I tried to defamiliarize a very familiar configuration of letters," he explains, referring to his unconventional, interwoven font — inspired by the country's history as a melting pot. "A flag is a corporate logo. A monogram is much more private." (Pesky laws against currency tampering thwarted his even more democratic — with a small d — plan to fasten pin backs to pennies.) Only five thousand are being made and cost only $10! All processed will beneift
Puppies Behind Bars, whose work includes aiding veterans of the Iraq War.
"After nearly a decade of limited lapel options (you're either with the flag pin or against it), sporting this one shows support for the true meaning of bipartisanship — pride in America." - Men's Vogue
